National Institute of Statistics

In Cambodia, the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), which is a division of the Ministry of Planning, serves as the main hub for statistical issues. In addition to gathering primary data via household and establishment surveys, population, agricultural, and economic censuses, the NIS also gathers and aggregates statistics provided by decentralized offices. Numerous development partners have provided NIS with financial and technical support since 1993.

A decentralized statistical system exists in Cambodia. Within the planning and statistics divisions of the several Ministries, as well as the planning and statistical units in the provinces and districts, there are statistical bureaus and sections.
